BUILDING SKILLS ECOSYSTEMS

BUILDING SKILLS ECOSYSTEMS FOR A JUST ENERGY TRANSITION IN THE FOOD & BEVERAGE MANUFACTURING SECTOR

Client: Centre for Researching Education & Labour (REAL), Wits University
Funder:  Food & Beverage Manufacturing Sector Education & Training Authority (FoodBev SETA)

Pinpoint acted as research lead and undertook research to better understand the skills implications of a Just Energy Transition (JET) on food manufacturing through two cases: City of Ekurhuleni’s baked goods sector, and City of Cape Town’s fish and seafood processing sector. Drawing on these cases, the areas of skills intervention  included the need for skills to: 1) build, coordinate and enable a more collaborative and effective skills ecosystem for a JET, and 2) to reduce energy consumption and increase energy resilience.
