GREEN HYDROGEN SKILLS

GREEN HYDROGEN SKILLS AND THE POTENTIAL ROLE OF SMMES, CO-OPERATIVES AND SMALL-SCALE START-UPS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Client: Centre for Researching Education & Labour (REAL), Wits University
Funder:  Chemical Industries Sector Education & Training Authority (CHIETA)

Pinpoint contributed research to assess green hydrogen skills needs for SMMEs and start-ups in South Africa. The research highlights the sector’s potential to contribute to economic growth and decarbonisation but acknowledges significant challenges.  The study identifies global best practice, local opportunities, and a need for agile, cross-sectoral skills-building strategies. Interventions were proposed, including e.g. a green hydrogen innovation hub, and partnerships with Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
