Invasive alien vegetation is a serious environmental challenge in South Africa. Strategies to clear it have had mixed success. In collaboration with TIPS, Pinpoint undertook research to explore the reasons for the successes and failures, to better understand the job creation and economic potential associated with using alien vegetation as feedstock for manufacturing wood pellets, and use of pellets as a paraffin alternative in non-electrified homes.
